I need to read up more on this, but I have used the wavelength intensities, not necessarily schedules.DAILY QUESTION: How do you manage light schedules to prevent algae growth while supporting coral health?
Start low in the water and with lower intensity and ramp up/raise slowly over time. Dont blast them.DAILY QUESTION: What’s your strategy for acclimating corals to a new lighting system?
Its crazy how much has changed, my first homemade led reef light was multiple strings i controlled with separate wall bricks and timers, and it worked great. Now I want Wifi and intensity control with timers all built in!!!DAILY QUESTION: How do you prioritize features when selecting a new reef light?
AI bladeDAILY QUESTION: What light do you have over your tank right now?
wifi, color, intensity adjustment, separate channels, night lightsDAILY QUESTION: What are factors that you consider important when choosing a reef light? Why did you choose the light that you are currently using on your reef tank?
how the corals look and are growing. i have always thought par readings help, but have never done them.DAILY QUESTION: What’s the best way to measure the effectiveness of your reef lighting setup?
when i started i was using MH and T5HO. I had bought leds at one point and converted an old t5ho into led in the early 2000s. i remember controlling it with multiple wall bricks and timers to get the lighting i wanted, but i still did not control intensity, just on/off.DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?
the Wifi and the different wavelengths, especially in the blue.DAILY QUESTION: What’s your favorite feature of the Orphek Natura iCon Reef LED Light?
it makes it easier then trying to create my own schedules.DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?
since they are on the outside of the tank, I think they are the easiest to swap. the only hard part is matching up the intensities to prevent the corals from getting bleached.DAILY QUESTION: How do you integrate new lighting technology with existing aquarium setups?
Other then wiping it down, which is really nice if it is easy to clean, I think lighting should be maintenance free.DAILY QUESTION: How important is ease of maintenance when selecting a reef light?
Currently I do not have any experience with a moonlight cycle other than using a flashlight at night to check up on the tank.DAILY QUESTION: What experiences have you had with moonlight cycles and their effects on nocturnal reef activity?
the more like nature, the closer they are to real life. i dont know if it helps, but i dont think it hurts.DAILY QUESTION: How might natural light synchronization improve the biological rhythms of corals in a reef tank?
I think the app setup has really been the only issue. with the AI, when the light losses power, the app would hang up.DAILY QUESTION: What challenges have you faced with previous reef lighting systems?
I think it helps especially since the real moonlight comes into the house. being able to sync them makes it more natural.DAILY QUESTION: How does the Sun & Moon Synchronization feature of the Natura iCon benefit your reef tank?
I would hope to be able to get a more daylight light look vs the heavy blues many lights run that make the tank look neon.DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
I hope to not only optimize wavelength for the coral, but also for my viewing pleasure.DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
I expect that it will help the corals develop a depth of colorDAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
