As long as i keep my nutrients low, i don't mind a sun above my reef.

I don’t think about it overmuch.

The tank is getting a daytime span roughly equivalent to the world outside already. With a good cleanup, crew algae is fairly straightforward to manage.

if your nutrients are in check, you shouldnt have an issue with algae growth. Also a good CUC crew would keep your tank clean.

The only time I limited my schedule was when i first started the tank. Otherwise I start with a known preset and fine tune it to my liking

I don't worry about light scheduling and algae, that is what my tangs and algae eater are used for in keeping the algae under control. Scheduling, duration and intensity are my main concerns for coral growth and well being.

I'm not too sure about this but I think most lights are independent from aquarium setups.

Well, I just started reefing and haven't experienced old lighting technology but from what I have read, reefers used to use lights like T5s but it sounds like many are using LEDs now.

I think best way to me would be by seeing how your corals grow.

I don't have a strategy for acclimating corals yet, but from reading what others has posted, I'll try putting it on a rack at the bottom and move it up day by day.

I would probably start the lights low in the morning and then brighter at peak time and back to low.

I'd say the emergency drain right to the base of the weirs, primary can potentially be no pipe. Thank you! I'll go do that. I forgot about the gate valve too. Earlier I was wondering how come so much water is coming into the sump and bubbling. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
