I don't try to prevent algae growth with my light. For the most part, Coral and algae like the same conditions and that is why a well established cuc is essential.

Coral health controls my lighting schedule. I don't adjust my lighting to control algae . Water changes will help deal with any algae issues that might pop up.

Factors are what corals are it capable of growing, the coverage (footprint) of the light & how the light looks when all spectrums are on. Reason for my current light (Maxspect Jump) was the way it looked & it came with an arm.

Daily question entry: I don't. I just trust the science of the light program I'm using, like Helius. By doing so, it ensures your corals get enough light to be healthy and not over extend the photo period to prevent algae growth.

I have yet to run into this as my light has not been upgraded before. But my plan for light integration when the day comes is to get local par reading for the first time from a local shop to see what my lights are currently at then to set up my new light during the par reading to mimic the current light. Then increase as needed from there.
