DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?
for me it went from buying individual Cree LED on those 20mm PCB boards and 60degree lens, coming up with a pattern spread, wiring up my own driver and programing a lighting schedule, to 100W multi LED chips, to going away from the DIY look and just buying LED fixture with a remote to program the lights to finally app based wifi controllers.

DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?
It has evolved exponentially, started with T12 fluorescent bulbs, then tried a couple months with metal halide( they just got to hot), eventually went with compact fluorescent for a few years, now I use LED for the past few years.
I can only wonder what the next great lighting product will be.

DAILY QUESTION: What’s the best way to measure the effectiveness of your reef lighting setup?
DAILY QUESTION RESPONSE: A great Par meter is the best way, and an inventory of the needs of each coral to move them to the place that they will thrive the most from the Par at that spot in the system! Observation of the color and growth over time is the low tech way!
