Back when I started…. Was not very long ago. This is the first new technology that has excited me!

I'm relatively new so LED'S have long been established so much hasn't changed. The perception does seem to have evolved though. Good lighting can be cheap, black boxes are reliable.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you integrate new lighting technology with existing aquarium setups?
That’s a tough one. I’d say that depends solely in the rest of the equipment you’re running. With this particular light I’d try to ensure that there’s a “night mode” on the pumps to kind of mimic the tides with the moon. Which would be a super cool thing to have it all in sync.

DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?
When I started reefing LEDs were still pretty new. People still used mostly MH or T5HO. The addition of slow ramping and adjustability both have come along which are great additions IMO.

DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?
LED lights were not readily available for aquarium use, Spectrum control and scheduling (outside of a timer) was non existent when I did my first reef tank. There was no information on PAR requirements for coral availible to me then also .

I got started after LEDs were already a thing. However, app control has really taken leaps and bounds in the right direction. Still some quality of life improvements can be made, but on the right track.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you integrate new lighting technology with existing aquarium setups?
Our 75 gallon came with a Fluval Aquasky light and our 46 gallon came with nothing. We bought a Fluval Sea Marine for the 46 gallon but ended up putting that on the 75 after I purchased a SmatFarm for it, which I really like. I will probably slowly add some more SmatFarms to both tanks over time as funds allow.

I now have lights with app control and all of the features like ramping, moon phases etc. I don't know if the tech was available when I started but the lights I started with were black boxes with only on/off switches.
