DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?
DAILY QUESTION RESPONSE:
Presumed Benefits:
  • Reduced Stress: Corals experience less stress, leading to better health and coloration.
  • Improved Growth: Corals can adjust to the light intensity more comfortably, promoting healthy growth.
  • Protection Against Bleaching: By avoiding sudden exposure to intense light, corals are less likely to bleach.
  • Mimics Natural Environment: Provides a more natural light cycle, which can reduce stress for both corals and fish.
  • Algae Control: Periodic reductions in light intensity can help control algae growth by depriving it of constant, intense light.
  • Enhanced Coloration: Some corals may display enhanced coloration under varied lighting conditions, similar to how they would in the wild.
  • Energy Savings: The temporary reduction in light intensity can also contribute to energy savings and prolong the life of your lighting system.

Official Entry: I have an atlantik that I upgraded the board to the icon controls. The app is so much better then the old gateway. Would love to add this light to my tank to fill in more light.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?
Automation is amazing for the reefer hobbits. Ramping up/down lights has been a game changer coming from metal halides. I run a separate observation tank that allows me to add all new corals/fish for months before I consider moving over to the main display. a smart method would be by asking the LFS details on the corals I purchased and try to reproduce light, feed and current to reduce anymore stress. I guess you can also ask when you are ordering online? anyways... If I am blowing $$$$$ on a frag, I want the acclimating process only to effect the current frag not rest of the corals.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you integrate new lighting technology with existing aquarium setups?
I gradually ramp up the light levels to allow everything to adapt to the new lighting, and ensure the new cables are corralled.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?
I have never had a fixture with these capabilities, but coral acclimation would help prevent new coral additions coming from different lighting setups, and clouds I would imagine would make the photoperiod more natural since the reefs are not in the sun 100% of the time.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?
It's a cool visual to have and Olay with but my corals are only allowed sunny days and no acclimation needed. With acros they're usually ready for the par you have

DAILY QUESTION: How might natural light synchronization improve the biological rhythms of corals in a reef tank?
Not really sure....I would think perhaps the ambient light in my house which is mostly natural light would then better match the reef lights. After seeing many wholesale coral farms have no natural light, the Orphek lights would provide what they come from.
