DAILY QUESTION: What excites you most about the future of saltwater aquarium lighting? What is one innovative idea you hope will eventually become a reality for reef lighting?

I think we already have a really good light with the Orphek. I would personally like to move near the equator so that I could use NSW and natural sun light to fill my aquariums. Short of this, the Natura iCon looks like a pretty neat option that is more realistic since she doesn't like tropical heat.

DAILY QUESTION: What's one topic of discussion in these daily questions you've enjoyed discussing or learning about?

It has been nice to learn about the lighting power and performance of the new Orphek light. 20 Years ago lights this powerful were only available to a few folks who assembled their own systems.

What's one thing you'd like to know more about with regard to reef lighting?

DAILY QUESTION: What excites you most about the future of saltwater aquarium lighting? What is one innovative idea you hope will eventually become a reality for reef lighting?

Controllability. It has become far more easy to control the brightness and duration as well as color. Maybe one day we can weather sync too.

The topic would be the potential for coral spawning because of the moon lighting. What I'd like to learn more about is how to create the ideal lighting program as opposed to using someone else's.

I’ve enjoyed reading the responses of many in regards to what they feel is more important, the intensity of the light or the duration.

As for what I’d like to know more about, I really want to know if there’s a simple way to have the light set up perfectly for coral health and growth, and not feed algae. It’s simple enough for me on planted aquaria but corals are a lot trickier for me

Discussing moon phases as it is not often done.

I want to know why warranty is only a year? I would have thought 2 would be appropriate for a light of this caliber.

I’d love to learn more about the light spectrum and understand what I’m looking at would be helpful

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when it comes to aquarium lighting?

I prefer functionality but if it comes with good aesthetics i may spend a little extra to get the one more pleasing to the eyes. I am very much function over form and budget reefing.

I program it for the sps and use par testing to put everything else in adequate zones.
