DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?
I shoot for a couple of things when adjusting my lights - I get the blues as high as I can get them without irritating the corals (or my wife), and then I blend in white until it's pleasing to my eyes.

After I have the peak blend where I want it, I adjust the schedule to ramp down a little bit before we go to bed. I usually try to run 9 hours of good photoperiod and an hour and a half ramp up and down. It might be too long but it's been working for a couple of years and my corals grow happily.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?

Lights start ramping up at 10am and off at 10pm with around 7 hours at peak. Not sure if I'm achieving optimal results or not but coral are alive and growing.

Honestly, I haven't spent that much investigation on time on. I really just use preset schedules.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?
I turn blues and violets up as high as possible then bleed in whites, reds, and greens until it suits my eye without irritating anything and then a transition into mainly blue for the final 5 hours. As for duration I know I'm stretching the limits at 12 hours but haven't seen any stress/bleaching yet.

I would absolutely love to win this light. I am currently running a second hand Kessil that may be past it's prime. I think my corals would greatly benefit from having a new beautiful light with so many options. Thank you and good luck to everyone!

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?
I run a 12 hour light cycle. But I don’t run it the optimal way most do where whites are only on for 8 hours. My light runs all of its spectrums from the second they turn on. With that being said since some hit a more high intensity than others. Some don’t turn on the first minute it takes a couple of extra minutes for those to start kicking in. I do run a 2 hour ramp up and a 2 hour ramp down. All of the corals seem to enjoy this and grow.

My reef light is OOOOOOOLD!
It has sunrise/set ramp and moonlight timer and most if not all led's are still functioning but sometimes it wont shut off or on automatically and needs to be reset to function on its program.

I set it to be viewable when we are home so the number of "daylight" hours is long but the intensity is down to compensate.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?
I try to keep corals in their recommended par range. A little lower maybe. If the corals look good and are growing I am happy. Its not a race so slower growth I am good with as long as they look good.

I look for full spectrum and ramp timers and moonlight setting. I always wanted to run a seasonal program but never stepped up due to price.
