Pests are the best part of this hobby

I’ve been very overwhelmed with setting up a coral qt and I got to thinking— maybe the possibility of pests isn’t such a bad thing? Having the perfect “pest-free” tank with 100% assurance feels a bit....sterile. In a sick way, I kind of enjoy the slight possibility. Pest prevention practices...

Is this a new torch head?

Spotted this fleshy bubble looking thing growing from the skeleton on my torch. It’s the same color as the torch so I know it isn’t bubble algae. The pics aren’t the greatest but it’s glued down so it’s the best I can do for now. Any help on the ID would be appreciated.

ID hitchhiker that started on snail shell.

Hello All, A while ago I purchased a turbo snail that had a strange clam looking hitchhiker. Didn’t think anything of it, but I found one at the waterline of my tank. It doesn’t look harmful, but I would like to know what it is. I am upgrading to a larger aquarium soon, and would also like to...

They are very small, 3 millimeters i would guess. They are white and skinny but they look like aptaisa, I have never seen them this small though. Also i can even see them sway in the currant. You have to have a flipper Magnifying veiwer, or a Magnifying glass. And now its been 2 months and...

    Possible Aiptasia

Hello all, I am very new to the reefing hobby. After finding R2R while looking for advice for building my 150G freshwater setup I have been bitten by the reef bug. I have changed course and will be making the 150G a reef setup instead of a Discus tank. However, I couldn’t even wait for the 150...

    Some filter feeder but what?

This thing is growing on my snail but can’t work it out what it is. If a touch it closes like clams it doesn’t seems to bother the snail but would be nice to know it is safe.

    Hitch Hiker ID Please

We ordered some Florida Cerith Snails and one arrived with something attached to its shell. I don’t think it’s aptasia because it doesn’t retract when you touch it or remove it from the water. It’s actually a bit stiff, maintaining its shape out of water. Apologies, my pictures aren’t the...

    Hitchhiker Paly

I’ll be transferring tanks soon and plan to use this live rock with these palys that hitchhiked on there. I don’t mind them, but I want to see if anyone is able to ID them and give advice on the best way to move the rock to the new tank safely. Thanks!
