Just add him to your ignore list if his comments bother you, control what you can control.
I don’t use my Profilux for much more than a glorified timer, probes, and temperature control. If I requested anything it’d be #s 2 and 5 in your list. Help text and wizards would certainly make it easier.
First off in a tank that new you shouldn't be having to dose anything. Your salt should provide the #s you are shooting for especially if its Red Sea Pro Salt. What kits are you using to test with? And what LFS is selling "skeletons"????
Glad to hear you are more comfortable now with taking it slower.
Having your pH around 7.95 isn't the end of the world; mine is 8.0 early morning and around 8.25 before the lights go out 10 hours later.
It used to get as low as 7.8 when my tank was new.
Keep testing your Alk and Ca and keep...
All the above comments are feasible & your #s look good. What about SG between the tanks & temps? That's the only thing that comes to mind (and your clown pestering it)
Param #s look good but according to your pics it does look like polyp bailout. I've had a few do that, the shock of param changes literally causes the head(s) float away.
I'm guessing that's where your phosphates are coming from. Your #s aren't critically bad but a couple of healthy water changes would be a start in the right direction and hold off adding any livestock until levels get more inline.
I'm also waiting for a plate of glass that has some sort of wiring woven into the glass....and this glass panel will sit in the back of your tank giving you constant #s on Temp, SG, Calc, Alk, Mag, NO3 and PO4. Only needs cleaning with vinegar once a week....
Get it out of your system and remove the coral and put it on a new plug. I don’t really worry about aiptasia, I’ve never seen them irritate or kill a healthy coral of any type. I have them in my system and blast them with aiptasia x maybe every month or two when they seem like they need a...
For now I would slowly up the temp to 78-79 degrees. Optimally you want your params to be SG 1.025 - 1.026, DKH 8.0 - 9.0, Cal 420 - 450, Mag 1280 - 1380 - these are just #s that have worked for me. Torches can be a love/hate type of thing of all the Euphyllias, I've had better luck with hammers...
Most require some type of intermittent/changing water flow in order to thrive, to really thrive vs survive- rock solid stable parameters, esp also nutrients need to be balanced and ideally kept at those #s /ratio is consistently.
like mentioned, they are usually one of the first coral to show...
I would just sit tight and let tank cycle. Ammonia is first step (and it's not that high to worry) test like every other day and track your results. It's hard to say where the #s are with all the things you threw at it from the beginning so it's best not to over-react and watch the #s. You'll be...
Looking at your #s they are as I expected but I think the opposite of what you think.
I think your #s were much more evenly spread and likely had less shadows without the narrow reflectors. Having par range from 70-400 is not ideal.
The narrow reflectors make them give good spread only over...
There #s will eventually go down. I just let them run the course and they ate almost all of my coraline algae. Then I noticed I wasn’t seeing as many as before on the glass so they had stopped reproducing, and now I see some small ones only not many and my coraline is growing back, this all...
Asterina star fish, they wiped out my coraline. Now there #s have dwindled to nothing and its growing back. I dont know if it's my Kessil leds but the coraline doesn't grow as fast as it did with t5s or halides, and it doesn't grow on the front glass with the Kessils just on the back glass and...
Be careful with ROX "super" carbon, while I have used quite a bit of it esp when doing flatworm treatments, I have heard others have had bad experiences if using too much.
I'm very sorry to hear things haven't turned the corner for the best yet. Good call on the reduced lighting, I'd also be...
Looks like debersia, you can wait it out or you can knock it out really quick with a sea hare, but that's a band aid.
Long term-
What's nutrient #s you are at? and what do you usually shoot for?
Hows your CUC? what does it consist of ?
Your #s look good but as mentioned flow, lighting and even minute fluctuations in params can bother them. Of the nine I have I have one that wonders and have to check on him/her/it on a daily basis. We've nick-named it "Komi" (as in Komikazi) as it's tried to climb into powerheads & overflows...
Good morning all, if you posted once per hour for the entire sale then post them here. Screen shots aren't necessary just post #s and time. Any word will do as long as it was done within each hour.
Fewer than 10 posts doesnt get you an entry, sorry.
I am going to let this run until Wednesday...
