Hello,

I have had my tabk up and running for 3 weeks now, two days from now I have started to see the water turn yellow. Since 5th day I have had a little back of activated carbon sitting next to my return pump but no luck with that. I had an old canister filter cleaned and bleached several months ago i was dried out sitting under sun for quiet a while now. Yesterday I put two bags of carbon and started running the filter and today in the morning the water was still the same. I run the canister filter in my sump it takes the water from sump and puts it back to sump. The photo. Elow shows the difference however its a bit bright doesnt show clearly. Your help in this regard is I highly appreciated.

Thanks

New Tank, plus looking through all the water column.
And the lights off so gonna look as so from yellow color of natural light in room and some cycling nutrients cause new tank algae.. but I think your looking too far into side of tank.

I bet if you had your lights on and we're 50/50 balance of white 10k and blue atinics. Water would look more cloudy than yellow especially at your angle, the light would refect on the sand...Looking clearer to cloudy not yellow tint.

If 14k-20k on definitely more blueish side giving glow.

Better visual test, fill up clean test tube and use same lighting, bet not as yellow as you see..

To me it's hard to light a tank from the side especially since water "refracts" little: deeper it goes less penetrates.

The only thing the light from the side reflects is white/yellowish/brown from rocks.

Try putting a white led flashlight, from side angle update picture for us, then take a picture with amore blue led.. bet understand instantly!

And light naturally comes from above unless tank in wall, those tanks get too much red, orange and green spectrum instant yellow tinting...

.If extremely yellow after cycle and water change, then add new carbon.
If after that add 20-40watt uv sterilizer.

my problem is yesterday I got my refractometer and the gravity is 1019 I need to add more salt, so I wanted to ask first regarding this yellowish issue then add the salt to make it 1025-1026. I will then be adding newly received prodibio biodigest vial.

You are ok to make the adjustment. Dont worry about the yellowing. Add the Probidio. you'll be fine. It could trick of the light, or organics yes.
learning not to worry is probably the hardest thing in the hobby.

thers is nothing currently to to lower the c02 to change the ph. do not worry about it. its actually a bit higher than usual IMO you are in the 8 range. This is likely due to the uncured rock(aragonite) buffering the water. if you were curious.

I will have to wait then, my gravity is up to 1022 now I need to add juat a little bit more salt.

Also I have to see what happens after the prodibio biodigest tomorrow I will check and see if things have changed.

Thank you guys you are helpful as always

How it doesnt matter? shouldnt it be between 1024-1026 for comfortable environment for the fish? I thought it plays a big role in the process.
you are correct. But at this stage of cycling the tank, its ok.

I think I didnt think of my filter socks cleaning, they are there in my sump since I setup my tank. Last night I checked they were brownish could they be an issue of my water being yellow? If yes what do you suggest for cleaning them? I have a polyster roll setup after the socks and I placed two bags of activated carbon in my old canister filter which I think of getting them out and putting them in the socks and not using the canister filter as I check the internet they say it will become source of nitrates in the long run.

Lighting wise I have decided to go with Orbit Marine IC LED fixture I will get it after 3-4 weeks most probably so lights might give a better look to the aquarium.

Water parameter are the same since two days but there should be some difference also I have added the prodibio biodigest nitrifying bacteria should I add reeflowers bacteria feeder for the bacteria to feed on? Or just leave it as is?
