Just got a male blue throat trigger Thursday and he was eating the same day I got him and swimming around then today out of now where my yellow tang starts bullying him and keeps chasing the trigger back into his hiding spot every time the trigger comes out! They are the same size and I also moved around my scape before adding the trigger! Should I be worried? He was still eating today and i just noticed the bullying tonight which I think is when it started

Give the yellow a time out in acclimation box or sump. It has become territorial and need 3-5 days of isolation to allow trigger to get familar with tank and hiding areas and start feeding.

Yellows are evil. Put a mirror up for a day and the yellow should hate itself so much it doesn't think about the trigger.

Welcome to the world of yellow tangs, they’re twats

If the trigger is being pinned into a corner and unable to leave then it’s worrying.

Yeah I’m realizing that now! lol I got the yellow when he was super small and he was captive bread! Never showed signs of aggression. Been watching the tank this morning and the yellow hasn’t gone after him at all and I just feed the tank and the trigger was eating with all the other fish and swimming around the tank. That’s what was weird about it cause I put the trigger in last Thursday and last night is the only time I saw the yellow doing that and the trigger had been eating every day since I put him in. He does surf the glass some but still swims around the tank also. I think me changing around the scape made the yellow think he is in charge now lol

Having 6 yellow tangs, Ive never had an issue with new introduction other than something with yellow coloration and they've often stopped their annoyance in 2-3 days. Mirror has Never worked for me while turning off lights has.

So he will def go after the majestic angel then if I leave him in there since he isn’t really messing with the trigger nonstop!? Haven’t seen him mess with the trigger at all today and I also don’t want to have to catch the yellow cause I know it’s gonna be a pain

It subsides quickly and he may annoy trigger at feeding becoming leass and less, Same will apply with majestic- should be a pain for a day or two and ignore it. My issue has been mainly with other tangs showing yellow color as I have 26 tangs total

Definitely put up a mirror against the tank, feed more, and tape up some photos of purple tang to distract the yellow tang. It really works. My PBT and Desjardini have been flaring and charging at their own reflection, so haven't been as focus in exerting dominance on the new smaller tang. When they did realize a new tang is in the tank, it was still a few days of bullying, my poor new smaller tang was pinned to the glass by the PBT...that PBT is psycho...hopefully they'll settle into the pecking order. After 2-3 days, they are all swimming together like nothing happened. I'm feeding more cubes of frozen too.

So the yellow has calm down and doesn’t go after the trigger really at all and the trigger is swimming around more and still eating. I have had the majestic angel in my sump with the lights off since yesterday and I think I’m going to put him in an acclimation box in the tank! Is this a good idea?

For now yes as a precautionary measure

The tang hasn’t even went up to the box or anything since he has been in there. When should I be good to let him out into the tank?
You can try now but be prepared to recapture if needed. In my experience, the yellows quit the attack behavior after 48-72 hours

You think it would be better to let him go tonight when the lights go out?
Lights out best and feed even flakes in the morning and see if both eat and if tang allows trigger to eat as most fish are aggressive at feeding time
