Blue Hippo Tang acting like a Clown??

This is weird even to me, but tank inhabitants are only 3 fish. A pair of black and white ocellaris clowns and a blue hippo tang. Have been together for months, when I got the tang he was literally one inch long with tail. He has since grown to be just a little longer than the clowns, just under 3 inches. Today I noticed that he appears to be almost courting the female and getting between the two clowns. The male clown also nudged/pushed him a little, which he has never done before. Is this a male dominance thing between different species?? Very curious
