Yasha Goby Jumped Out (But Lived)

My yasha goby jumped out of the tank while I was away. I came back to find him on top of the tank lid so he must've fit through the mesh. I've only had him since Sunday. He was totally dried out and seemed lifeless, but came back when I gave him water. He's having trouble swimming and is gasping for air (water?). What can I do to help? How do I maximize his chances of survival?

Not much you can do but give him a safe and stress free space to try and recover.

Looks like he found his shrimp's new burrow at least. Maybe that'll reduce his stress.

That's perfect. Mine will hide for up to 24hrs after a stressful event. Love the little guy

Sorry to hear that. If you can turn off the lights and cut down any traffic around the tank, that might help. Also might double check your water parameters.

I mean, I hate to admit my early failures as a fish keeper, but my Picasso trigger would have begged to differ. He survived three suicide attempts because I used a swing arm hydrometer. As soon as I got a refractometer and ato, he stopped jumping. He made it 11 years, no thanks to me.

I check it at least once or twice a year so yeah. I don't think they change much unless you drop them.

My yellow corris wrasse jumped out his first few days in the tank, he was (thankfully) quickly added back to the tank, hid for about a day and came back with a new found fear of the upper side of the tank. He is doing perfectly fine now
