So as the title states, I added to really small clownfish on a 100gal tank, they are the first inhabitants, and as expected they are hanging around in a corner, I have had them for 2 days and havent really noticed them eating, any tips?

So my first fish in my 75g was a 3/4” black ice clown. Mine did exactly same thing, hung out in upper corner constantly for weeks. Always ate, started with live brine shrimp and marine one mini pellets the LFS was feeding. Added more fish, still hung out in corner. Took 5 weeks to go anywhere in tank, now has ventured out some, and clearly has grown. But still hangs out during day in 2 different upper areas, never see it down in rocks or lower area. Eventually will add nem hoping it will host, but as clown grows it seems to be gradually adding more areas to visit after 7 weeks.

Feeding I shut off pumps so food hung out in that corner, and it ate from day 1.

Thank you for the reply! I will try and post pictures tomorrow, mine are about the same size.

Not eating is a serious thing. Were these fish quarantined? What are you feeding? Were they eating before purchase? Can you post some white light pics of the fish?

They where eating before introduction to the tank as well as quarantined, I will try and turn of the pumps as
Extremeengineer pointed out, the problem is that they mainly hang out on the bottom area of the aquarium so food is hard to reach them I will try and soak the pellets so they sink faster.

I think that was key for me. I’m going to assume in a 100 you have heads that will move some water, and same with return. When mine was first introduced, if I dropped in food, even with pumps turned down, it seemed it would just blow food out of reach and clown would just give up. With pumps off the food floated down slowly past and especially with the live brine shrimp that would swim as they settled, clown ate very actively. Even now with clown bigger(not a lot), I turn off everything for one feeding and clown eats well.

Glad to hear that! So I see same thing with yours as mine, tail at first was very small, swimming in current it struggled a lot. Now only short time later tail has gotten much bigger, makes a huge difference in swimming ability. I’m sure it was encouraging to watch it eat! Mine would do same, like taking a bite and spitting out part. With mysis it will shake side to side tearing off piece of larger shrimp. Sounds like progress!

If I get in small clowns I like to feed them Golden Pearls. Comes in a variety of sizes and they all seem to like it.
