One of my favorite wrasses! I love their sinister look! But their looks do not match their personality, they are easily bullied.
hmm, all my wrasse so far are surprisingly chill. and I'm working on pulling my usual bully fish this week (chocolate tang).

Current wrasse: new china, canary, melanurus, dusky (halichoeres) - canary likes to slap the glass but none of them have ever shown aggression or attitude with any fish, including each other.

I know I'm pulling the chocolate, and potentially my tomini as well because I know ultimately the tank isn't large enough for them as they continue to grow and mature. I'd like to replace with smaller type fish that won't mature into such monsters.

Thoughts?

I like your plan. The only potential problem that may present itself down the road is your Dusky. They are one of the bigger halichoeres species and are capable of packing an attitude with maturity.

Any other recommendations to look for or avoid? I'm assuming any of various fairys are fine together?? I'm not worried about avoiding species that eat snails/shrimp. My current stock already knocked all those out.

You have to be careful mixing fairies too. Some can be nasty. Do you have some other fairies in mind?

Rhomboids, exquisites, hoodeds, and pintails could mix with a brunneus.

Summary of the other convo: timor wrasse will probably be fine with what I have, temminck can be jerks to other fairys. sunset fairy wrasse (or pyles) are really pretty and can hold their own. Thats how far we got so far!

Local leopard?
That's probably what I'll do down the road. Get one from the guy nearby who does a 2wk quarantine for everything before he moves them to the sales floor. Possibly the same with the cbb when I'm ready to try again. Cut the shipping stress out for both of them.

Definitely go for a leopard! Personally, my Blue star is growing on me and the blacks are really looking rather full in comparison IMO (Although, the one my LFS supposedly has isn’t out of the sand so I can’t say for certain). This is my curious girl.

Other wrasses I’d like to mention include:
- Radiant (Unless you have one already)
- Vivien’s Leopard ($$$)
- Lubbocki Fairy (I find both variants have some beautiful colours under the light from a window)
- Paracheilinus sp. (Depending on your other stock)
- Naoko Fairy (Another one I own and they’re beautiful when they have a reason to flash)

Currently have China, dusky, melanurus, and canary... And a cleaner but they're not problematic lol. Have a timor & brunneus fairy coming next week as long as something doesn't happen to prevent it.

Went to a local store to see a black leopard the other day. They insisted to find it in the sand. I said leave it be I’ll come back in a couple days when it’s out. They didn’t listen and then the thing is freaked out laying on its side breathing heavy. I told them nevermind and also it’s not a leopard lol.

I wish these made it to the Left coast.

Most shops out here have never even heard of them.
