It's a legit thing to consider, but unlikely to be a real problem in the vast majority of situations. Use proper precautions (don't eat them, rub them on your face, or irritate them overly much) and they are as safe as anything in the tank. But you need to decide your own level of comfort and desire for your tank.

No need to be afraid, just use common sense. Good idea to invest in eye goggles if you want to frag them.
use carbon. dont cut the frags or scrape or brush them. use gloves if your clumsy when handling them. unless your fragging them or irritating the polyps they dont usually expel the toxins
use care if cutting with a band saw type cutter city the gryphon. Can atomize the irritants.
