Just don't eat them or rub them in your eyes. You'll be fine
It's a legit thing to consider, but unlikely to be a real problem in the vast majority of situations. Use proper precautions (don't eat them, rub them on your face, or irritate them overly much) and they are as safe as anything in the tank.
