It’s been a long journey to get here. I first started with a 16” biocube that…. Well. I kept the fish alive, but unfortunately not the corals. The light was failing and aptasia took over the tank. However even though it was discouraging I moved onto a 125 gallon. Custom in wall. Who doesn’t love DIY

I had some hiccups as I had bought a used aqueon 125 that was 8 years old and chewed up by a turtle and the glass was etched by its urine. I moved the tank multiple times trying many acids. Nothing worked.

The kick in the teeth was it held water but after moving it downstairs into the basement 40 gallons leaked. I still didn’t hear no bell.

I went out and bought a new tank and put it offically in the wall. Custom stand. My RO/DI automatically drains into my sewer line, as does my AWC. (Honestly my proudest job so far for the tank, no lifting means easy maintenance!!)

The tank is currently a month old. Run with 100 dry rock. I did MASSIVE bacteria dosing for three weeks.

Gear:
125 marine land tank
600 Red Sea reefer skimmer
39 sapphire sump
60” ai blade
40mp vortech
Nero 3 (why not use it. From the biocube)
Awc
And ATO

Current stocking:
Sailfin Tang
Yellow Tang
Tomini Tang
Helfirich Firefish
Lawnmower Blenny

In Memorium:
Royal Gamma

Right now I’m waiting two weeks for more fish. Coral… I’m pretty inexperienced, so I’ll begin with Zoas and move to torches. If I can find cheap sps to learn with I’ll move to those as well.

This project I initiated for my son and has been a completely father son project (he’s 5 1/2) trying to maintain a hobby we both can enjoy!

Looking good! At 5 and a half I think you'll have to carry the maintenance load for a while. :D
Haha. Probably, which it’s okay. My wife is allergic to dogs. I’m allergic to cats. My son wanted a pet so we figured this was the next progression. He loves feeding the tank. I’m excited to put corals in it and start giving it some personality. That and some more fish! It’s been a pretty smooth ride and having 3 tangs early on seem to really be putting a huge impact on algae. Lawnmower blenny is putting his work in too.

A white light shot of the tank… I don’t think I can really make any more hiding holes or stuff more rock in there! Gotta give those tangs some breathing room!

Tank inhabitant update:
3 lyretail anthias
1 blue velvet devil damsel
6 line wrasse
Exsquisite wrasse
Yellow tang
Tomini tang
Sailfin tang
Lawnmower blenny
Helfirich firefish

Approaching the point of my tank being close to maxed out on fish I’d believe. Sure is nice to see it active though!

I think this is the final iteration of my rockwork, finally. Fish are in place, now time to get some corals to grow!!!
