I have never EVER been able to keep a butterfly alive. EVER. I got some old fish, some pushing 5 years. I mean what the heck?

anyone else have a species that you just can not keep alive?

Powder blue for me. I gave up. I've not had any success with powder browns either.
What type of butterfly have you tried? I have CBB but I have a method I use to get them fat and healthy and eating very well before adding them to a tank with other fish. IMO this is critical to thier success.

Anthias or fire fish for me. I've kept all the fish already mentioned here at one point or another for many years. I've got a pajama cardinal that's probably 13 years old and some clowns that are almost 10.

But for the life of me, I can't keep a school of anthias going or a firefish alive

Chaoti wrasse and CBB. Chaoti feeds aggressively and does well for 6 months. Then a switch turns off, they wither away and die.
