Hi guys, I’m new to this. I’ve recently set up a new tank and has gotten a pair of clown fish. This is the 3rd day and I’ve realise a white string like thread coming out from both of them. I’ve read that prazigold could help but I’m also thinking if I could use Seachem Paraguard. And if I were to use Seachem paraguard, do I have to use it in a separate tank or could I just dip in the current tank and do a water change after 1 week? It’s just my clownfish and a damselfish in the tank. No corals yet.

White stringy poop does not necessarily mean the fish is sick. I would look for other signs of parasites before treating. That said, since the tank is new and livestock limited, I suppose it would be easy to treat the whole tank and you wouldn’t have to worry about quarantine/hospital tank.

If you do treat them, you can’t just treat the water though. Assuming they are actually sick, the white poop is a sign of intestinal parasites. To treat, you have to get the fish to actually eat the medication. Here is a nice thread on how to prepare medicated food for them:
