White Spots on Gem Tang Fins after QT

Does this look like ich on the Gem tangs fins? The tang was in hybrid ttm, then 2 doses of prazi. I did not observe them for 2 weeks. Now it looks like he has white spots on the fins.

The video is more informative than the photos. In the photos, hard to tell fish features v. aquarium stains, and inside issues.

They look more like 'smudges; than spots. May have developed from the stress of the ttm. if by Prazi you mean Praziquantel then it targets flukes and worms and, IMO not terribly effective. Still it isn't an issue here. Monitor and see if it doesn't' clear up on its own.

Do you soak food in any vitamin or fat supplement before feeding? I heartedly recommend that. I've written articles and posts on fish nutrition.

It’s very hard to get a photo as he doesn’t want to stay still. Yes, I used 2 doses of prazi (6 days apart) after ttm.

I did not soak food in vitamins, but I will try doing that with some kent/selcon that I have.

The white spots on its left pectoral fin is not ich.

I'm not sure I understand what "not observe them for two weeks" means? Do you mean that you didn't have a good view of the fish (lateral viewing) due to it being in TTM? That is a major problem with that method. The other issue with TTM may relate to the fins - because you need to handle the fish multiple times, it increases the chances of physical damage to the fish. These spots look like bent/broken fin rays to me. These can take months to fully heal, but no treatment is needed.

The other possibility is that the white smudges are the shadows of Neobenedenia flukes. Two things don't add up for that though; you dosed the fish with prazi 2x, and then, Neo prefers to live where there is a better blood source, on the eyes and skin, not the clear parts of the fins.

I don't think it is marine ich.

Selcon is a good fat soak. Too much fat isn't all that good. You may want to in the very near future, get one of these:

Honestly, still confused by the statement:

Speeding up recovery from physical injury is just time. I still recommend vitamins and if you're game. . .the use of some beta glucan to improve immunity (for a short time only). Beta glucan is the same beta glucan humans use and can be bought from a health food store. You want for this size fish to ingest about 20mg of this every day for about 5 days.

If it is damaged fin rays, it will just take time, surprisingly long in some cases. Think of blood under a fingernail - those have to grow out, no treatment really helps.
Watch for new spots, or changes in these (larger, brighter white, etc.)
