White Rods Sticking Out Of Hammers

There are these weird white rods sticking out of my coral base. I am fairly new to reef keeping. Can anyone tell me what’s going on? They seem to just have popped out out of nowhere

Vermatid snail tubes. If you haven’t seen them on the rocks before, get ready to. Likely came in on a frag and they spread quickly.

It's another one of those personal preference hitchhikers like bristle worms. I think more remove them then keep though.

Personally I don't want them in my tank.

They will irritate corals with their feeding webs.

How can I remove these before they get out of hand?

Either remove the affected pieces and smash/scrap off the entire tube and rinse prior to putting back in the tank.

Or you can super glue over the tube to encase the whole worm within a super glue tomb.

Euphyllia species are the primary importer of the vermetid. They are next to impossible to keep out of your tank. DOC and particulate control help keep them in check.
