Hey Everyone!

I recently upgraded tanks from a 20 gal to a 80 gallon. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on the wave maker locations.
The new tank dimensions are
36L-24W-16H

I currently have
800GPH return pump in the sump
Jebao 0w-10 (Right side)
Jebao wp-25 (left side)
Tiny sicce pump (left back wall)

As far as corals it’s going to be a mixed reef tank, but as of right know I only have a few LPS and softies.

Any suggestions would be great!!

You are going to need more flow than those pumps can provide. I have a mixed reef in a 50 gallon that’s 36x18x18. I run a jebao mcp-90 up high on the right side glass set to random and a hydor koralia g3 1950 on the opposite back glass blowing diagonally down the front glass and I get decent turnover rate. That jebao gyre pump is the schiz nit

The key to flow is to move the entire volume of water without blasting the corals. Try to eliminate all dead spots where things will accumulate in the tank. If it's Acropora then you need high flow. Everything else, medium to low flow. For example, my system is SPS dominant, therefore I have a very high flow. The tank is an IM 100 EXT. Same footprint as a 120 but shallower. I use three gyre pumps for flow. One is on the left side towards the back running at 70% constant. Pump two is on the right side towards the front, It is running at 70% in a random pattern. Pump three is set on the left side, back wall in a vertical position, it runs at 50% constant. If you look at the tank you can always see particles / bubbles shooting from the left side all the way across the tank to the right. At the same times you can see those particle shooting from the right side to the left at the front of the tank. The key is unanimous flow without blasting corals with the goal of getting the waste out of the tank.
