So I bought an anthias to add to my display tank 5 days ago.

It was at my LFS in a tank with a very very pale possum wrasse (which died today).

No visible problems upon receiving the anthias, displayed scratching on the rocks and sand a couple times but that's it.

It's been in a qt tank now which I slowly increased copper in from 2.0-2.5 and will be finishing the second dose of api general cure tomorrow. I will do my water change tomorrow after the full 48 hours for the 2nd dose is finished.

She has had this white patch on her since the next morning after bringing her home. I can't really tell if it's going away. She's eating well and coming out of the pvc pipe regularly now. Otherwise acting normal no more scratching so far.

What should I do about this white patch? It's not ich or velvet and it's too smooth to be lympho. Maybe bacterial?(its somewhat got a texture to it) Or could it be a scratch wound somehow? Maybe someone else knows.

Thank you in advance whoever sees this. I can provide more pictures if needed. 20240704_162641.jpg 20240704_162632.jpg

if youre referring too the mark on its head, looks to be a nick or injury and may be from the PVC pipes. Keep an eye on it for healing and not infection. You can add reef safe Ruby Rally Pro for protection from infection

Thank you for the quick response you guys always relive my stress. I was planning on doing another general cure treatment before the 14 day copper ends and add to display once the copper treatment is done.

Jay also mentioned ruby reef rally pro. I've never used it. Looks like a shotgun to me. How often do you need to wc when using it?

Change water as needed. It does not need restoration as copper would. Its very safe to use

The anthias seems thin and a bit “weak”. It may not have been treated very well before you got it. This is probably just a nick. Be sure to feed this fish multiple dmall feedings each day (4x)

14 days of amine chelated copper isn’t long enough to handle any ich tomonts that might be present in the tank. I prefer not to run copper and prazi at the same time. You could take a break from the copper after 14 days, finish the prazi and then run copper again for a week or so.
