What what colors do you get at what par levels with pc rainbow acro?

so I’m trying acros for the first time. Tank parameters are generally stable and I just got a Kessil a500x for higher par levels. But me being me, instead of trying with an “easy” acro grabbed a few different kinds of acro,one of them being a pc rainbow. As the title says I was wondering what kind of colors I’ll generally see around what par levels. (Currently it’s sitting at north of 250ish par) the only color change I’ve seen so far is a bit of green with most of the frag being purplish

The PC Rainbow is an interesting coral. Less is more with this one. I placed mine in a low light area at around 150ish par. When I got it, it was 100% red but here's a picture of it now, a few months later

And here I’m seeing all these posts about tanks with like 300~400 par thinking I need the freaking sun over my tank for some acros.

Haha, yeah, not all across need high par; the PC rainbow is a perfect example. I think at 250, you will probably get a lot of good colour out of it.

Holy crap. That is a gorgeous shade of blue. Though I think I have enough blue and green in my tank.

I agree that less is more with PC rainbow. High par will get you the exact opposite of “rainbow”. It will end up a nice pinkish/red/purple. Lower par will get that beautiful green base, some orange/yellow and nice pink/purple

When I think PC Rainbow, I think of pink and green. My PAR levels for my all Acro tank are +\- 500 at the tips of the colonies and my PC Rainbows demonstrate those color patterns. However, I do agree that it is not necessary to have those levels to keep Acropora successfully.

Even if it is heavily saturated the colors are still there. Next live sale I’ll see if I can get what par they keep their pc rainbows at.

Yes and no...I could post hundreds of pics before and after editing where there are no colors prior lol. This isn't the thread for that though. WWC has very talented photo people....they know what they are doing to sell coral.

Mines kind of taking that orange and red color with green at the base and it’s in about 250 PAR 4 in from the top of the water. It’s a coral I’ve always wanted !

My PC Rainbow frag had some great colors when I first got it from a fellow reefer but I have it in a high par area so now it’s mostly orange/red. Will put it in lower light in the tank upgrade (sorry for the blue saturation)
