A vendor can often sell something for less if you buy a large number of said item. A group buy would be where many commit to a purchase and once all the slots are spoken for those buyers get a better deal

IDK I think we would be into any thing we can get our salty hands on. this hobby is expensive so if we can band together to safe a few bucks that would be cool.

My tank is only 2 weeks old, but I’m interested!

Obviously it just depends on how the pick up/shipping of the materials would work out. It might be more worthwhile to do a regional group buy if at all possible. Not sure how shipping/splitting everything up would be with people all over the country/world involved in the group buy.
