What is this pink slime (after Carbon dosing)? What should I be doing?

The No3 has now come down to almost undetectable.

It was approx. 40 ppm and has taken its course over few months time.

I have now cut down the dose to half and perhaps I'm still overdosing as I found pink slime all over my sump.

I don't know if I'm supposed to leave it there or pull it out, which I've decided to do the latter as it looks ugly and disgusting.

The color is pink and the consistency is slime (not spongy).

Should I stop dosing NoPox completely? Is that thing good or bad?

No ill-effect on all live stocks and water looks so clear (clearer than ever before, pristine is the word).

Skimmer still pulling out gunk and I'm skimming wet.

Carbon dosing drives bacteria, and it has to grow somewhere. If it is just in the sump, I'd say it is no concern.

Some folks see the bacteria, and some do not. I did not. I dosed upstream from a large rock filled refugium and never saw any bacteria unless I hugely overdosed and then I saw haze in the water.
