I use this method...

"Wow I got such a great deal! XXX was normally $XXXX and I was able to get one for $XXX!"

Normally just rolls eyes.

Also she's very into finances and I am not... so...

I’ve been taking it in steps and only buying when there are deals. I do make sure the wife is with me every step though. I put up with her family so putting up with my weird and impulsive purchases is a great trade off.

There are times in this hobby when there is something we want that might seem a little expensive. Instead of asking our significant other we jump the gun and buy whatever it may be. I am wondering what is something expensive that you bought for your tank that you might have hidden from your significant other.
Are you kidding? Just about everything.

Same, we have a joint account for bills. We both put in our agreed upon amounts based on our respective salaries each month. Then everything else stays in your own account. Makes life a lot more peaceful.
Agree 100%. My wife and I do the same thing and it works out great.

I was honestly shocked when I took her to the LFS one day. They had a new shipment of $300+ scolys and she loved them. She actually said "we should get one". I almost fell over but maintained my composure. I just said "that would look amazing in the tank. Which one do you want?" That was the one and only time she stepped foot in the LFS.

My husband doesn't even ask or make comments anymore.

I bought a drop off tank and it's sitting empty in the bedroom atm, I didn't hear a even a whisper about it.

My tank is as much mine as it is my wife’s. I’ve had her help and input every step of the way.
She’s responsible for picking some of my most expensive pieces (she loves acans, torches, and scolys) it’s our combined hobby.
Now Guitars, that’s where she’s concerned with money… but i’ll never withhold the truth from her. She just knows better than to ask hahah

i’m a very lucky man.

The gumball i got from the vending machine...

Really though, she will call me sometimes and ask how (insert restaurant here) was when i talk to her in the afternoon because she saw it in our bank record. She is more thorough than the IRS!

(But she is also a saver and does all our finances... money flows through me quicker than water out the powerhead!)

Same here. My wife loves the fish and picked out half of them thus far, hahaha. I'm more the coral guy (unless it's wrasses). My wife also doesn't ask how much it was anymore. She just rolls her eyes when I get more coral and then looks in the tank later to see what they look like.
