Just echoing the GSP/Xenia comments - They just are more work than it's worth to contain.

Dendros/Sun Corals... love them to death but the spot feeding is a pain.

I probably won't do mushrooms again in my new build unless they are high dollar bounces that are worth the PITA to frag and sell.

I'm really surprised at a couple of the answers.
Blue ridge is brown yes but it's a classic reef looking structure.
Gargonians I put in the back of my reef and forget about them. After a couple of years they grow up in there colunm form so they are visible. If they were the non-photosynthetic type, I can see why someone wouldn't like them.

Anyway, for me, it's the blue clove polyps. Wish I knew how bad they were before I added them. They are pretty much under control with a few stragglers living on the bottom glass. I'll deal with them shortly when I get some time.

Green mushrooms, they will spread and cover everything ... then sting any other corals near them to death. Had to remove 90% of my rock and replace to stop the spread. I still see babies now and then and needless to say they are removed quickly.

I will not add any montis again....had to tear down my last tank and start over due to overgrown montis. They grow too fast and encrust everything lol.

Zoas & Acans! I can grow any type of coral in my tank. LPS, SPS, softies but those two types of corals always die on me.

Keep in mind, a lot of these are personal preference. Not every coral listed here is a mistake in every tank. As long as you do your research and figure out if a particular coral will work well with your tank and your plans, go for it!

I hate half of the corals listed here and love the other half.

#2. Rhodactis mushrooms. They too spread and are difficult to get off of live rock!
