What exactly is going to happen when my nitrates go down?

Hello,
For the past couple of months my nitrates have been skyrocket high. However I've cut them in half they were at 100 now at 40 however I need to lower them to 20+15 so my hammer can reopen and also do my GHA will die. It's turning white and stuff but once I get my nitrates down to that level what should I expect? I will also be starting a fuge soon to help.

I would be pulling the gha as you go. As it dies, it's raising nutrients.

But my no3 hanna says zero and nothing dying.
