I have a 225 gallon reef, I do 20% water changes every2 weeks, but, would like to do every week to try and have some success with acros... I was looking at this ro/di but, its probably overkill.. any suggestions for a unit that really is the best at producing pure water?

I also went with Filters Direct, fast shipping and the filters are always in stock. I went with this unit, I've had it for 2 years and it's a tank.

I did upgrade the DI housings to be a little larger so I didn't have to change them as often.

One that is made for your needs is best. If you can find a local water report, then call FD or AWI and talk to one of their experts. These will be better than a generic one from somebody.

I just called them about this system to see if they offered a 1 mic carbon filter. they do not. they also informed me that these aren't the typical 10 x 2 filters so i can't buy off the shelf ones. only koolermax filters will fit in this system. i was going to purchase this but now i don't know ...

1 mic is pretty small, is that the number we should all be looking for in the Carbon filter? I assumed 5 microns was pretty good. If 1 mic is the standard for aquarium RO filtering, I'll start to look for something else, but so far I love this system.

Not being able to buy off the shelf filters does suck a bit, but for what its worth, their processing of orders is same day for all my orders so far, and I always receive my order in 3 days or less.

I keep 1 set of back up everything on hand usually so I never need something right away.

A RO/DI system is a RO/DI system.

Anything that works correctly for your input water quality is fine.

Once you start buying one with a "Reef" label you start paying 'reef tax'.

My RODI unit (5 stage) was bought from a drinking water filter specialist and it's worked fine for the last 10 years and I didn't have to pay a reef tax. I think it cost around $150 at the time.
