For overall fun it has to be the dragon:

For fun without destruction a fairy from the rubriventralis complex like C rubeus:

But if even they’re too violent and you just want a cute peaceful but beautiful fish then a tamarin or leopard wrasse:

However some people just want a utilitarian wrasse so how about H iridis:

But what about a fish that looks distinct at every life stage and all of them are beautiful like C gaimard?:

Have you actually kept one? I was thinking about getting it a month ago but it looks so much like fresh water fish.
Nope. Don't really have a a big enough aquarium and though they can be trained onto dead they are apparently fairly hard to train off live food.

i cant think

What’s your all-time favorite wrasse?
Dang… you just had to narrow it all the way down.

Overall beauty and colour yet actually quite cheap has to be the Isosceles Fairy. Mines a transitional male but even ‘supermales’ (I hate this term…) are cheap.

Now, for colour and beauty but you want to go out and finish your stock with a bang, Attenuatus is the best route, forget Hemitaeniatus, go for this.

Now, for utilitarian… may be biased as I have two, but Iridis are the number 1 for me. Closely followed by a Leucoxanthus (Chrysus is honestly bleh in my eyes) just look at this male and female comparison!

For the Destructive part, I’m going to say a wrasse I’d love but can’t have, the Novaculoides macrolepidotus. Theyre just so fun to watch and I mean who wouldn’t want this in an algae/grass tank? P.s. not my photo.

And Reef Safe but somewhat difficult has to be a Choati (again, not my photo). I’m just drawn towards fish with more organised colouring/patterns over fish that have colours just thrown on.

If going by personal experience, mine is blue star leopard, Macropharyngodon bipartitis. Just a very sweet and beautiful fish that will make anyone happy.

If using my imagination, I think Anampses femininus.

Almost bought one a few years back when I was first stocking my tank, regret it slightly since I could've made it predator only. Too bad I had a clownfish back then.

I am going with an unpopular answer for sure. sixline wrasse.
I have not other wrasse, though, but the 3 I have had thru the years always have been model citizen.
They are small and fit in any size aquarium and eat pest. Do not understand why so many people hate them.
