I’ve noticed some of my strats are somewhat open/somewhat closed and have been like this for a couple days. Any ideas

Every other zoa/LPS/SPS in the tank is open and doing well. Including the great owl that's finicky.

Tangs, clowns, sailfins in the tank. The strats went from 2 to 4 in a little over a month's time. It looks like when a zoa poops, however it doesn't dislodge itself when gently using the turkey baster.

I hate to say it, but they look like they're melting.

If your magnesium is really that high, that can be it. It can also cause invertebrates to start to die.

I would do some water changes and bring down the magnesium to somewhere around 1200-1300. I would also give the zoas an iodine dip to help with any bacteria issues. May Bayer dip as well to ensure there are no pests.

Here is my cheat sheet to help with dipping: https://reefstable.com/blog/how-to-dip-coral

Best of luck!

Typical zoa spitting its guts out. Usually occurs over night. Big mystery tbh.
