That's right!

Just click on your favorite #R2RTag that you want to follow, click watch and adjust your desired notification!

WOOT!

Basically (for anyone who hasn't used the hashtag subscriptions before), hashtags can be subscribed to on R2R and work a bit like the bat signal for the hashtags you subscribe to.

When you click on a hashtag, you'll have the option to "watch" the hashtag. If you do that, you'll get an alert any time the hashtag is used around the site.

These are also useful for calling on people you need quickly to a thread. For example, the Reef Squad members subscribe to the hashtag: #reefsquad So, typing that hashtag in your post will alert Reef Squad members that they are being asked to look at a particular post.

Similarly, #MODS is a hashtag that all of us staff members subscribe to and we can be alerted by using it.

Here are a few of the hashtags I know we use commonly around the site (feel free to add any I forget to include).

#reefsquad
#MODS
#ReefTank365
#partnermembers
#supportingmembers
#apexusers
#ghlusers
#ekoralusers
#Zoaexperts
#SPSexperts
#LPSexperts
#Clamexperts
#DIYwizards
#POTM

And I'm probably forgetting a bunch. If you were previously subscribed to any of these, go ahead and click them to subscribe again.

I noticed that the reefsquad hashtag in @kschweer 's signature block provides an error in contrast to the reefsquad hashtag (or any other hashtag) in normal message text.

Will there be a most commonly used or list of "top" hashtags provided at some point?

I'm not sure how we would track it (not sure the software does that), but I like the idea! Let's see if there's a way to do it. :)

Any hashtags that were typed before the upgrade will need to be deleted and typed in again in order for them to work in the new software. Good thing is that pretty much applies only to things like signatures or tutorial sticky threads.

That was from the previous forum software. When he updates it it will change.

I know a guy.... ;)
