I’m doing large weekly water changes (40-50%) in my 7 month 14gal nano. I finally added two fish about three weeks ago and have been feeding more frequently so I’m sure the tank appreciates the heavier export.

I have done 10% a month for a few years now.
New system will be 5% a month.
As long as temp, sg, and alk are the same their is nothing to be nervous about.
How often are you doing them?
I do them once a week to once every 2 weeks. I’ve never had a problem, knock on wood, and always match salinity and temp. But I just like seeing it all go well!

On my old tank I bought water at my lfs instead of making it myself

Much safer to make and match your own.

I’ve grown to appreciate and implement this method directly after a water change. The slurry acts as a very good flocculant binding up whatever particulate matter and detritus that’s floating around after basting rocks and churning up the sand. The tank looks real pristine right after it clears
