Hello! I purchased a watchman goby yesterday and he was looking a bit rough from the start. Not too much movement initially. After acclimation and getting in the tank he moved a round a bit. I left the light off and then when I checked on him a couple of hours later I found him a little bit under a rock and without much color.

I noticed when I got him a bit of his upper fins looked burnt. When I fished him out it appeared that his whole top fin was gone? What went wrong?

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrites 0ppm
Nitrates 14ppm
Temp 77.8°

I did drip acclimation while floating the bag. Salinity in my tank is 1.025. Bag salinity was 1.026. Ph in my tank 8.2, bag ph 8.4.

Looking back at it now, I believe there was a dead fish in the tank with the goby (at LFS) maybe that caused the bag water ammonia to be high?

Fish looks very thin and may have been on a downslide already.
How did you acclimate and for how long?

I would contact the LFS, your acclimation sounds o.k., and if there are other animals in your tank that are doing fine, the goby had some preexisting issue and the LFS should be held accountable for that.
