Today while cleaning my vortech pump, I found a small nick that was rusted on a mp 40 magnet. I cleaned it with vinegar just to get the rust off and rinsed it. Magnet hasn't swollen or anything. Thoughts on whether I can coat the nick and get a little more life out of it? I tried epoxy, but i think the un-eveness will make it run off-kilter and loudly.

Contact ecotech and see what they say about it. They're usually good about helping out in those situations

did not work at all. Any sort of uneven-ness will not allow the magnet to spin appropriately and jam up. I ended up just buying a whole new wet-side.

sorry that happened. But good to know. I think I will just order a back up before I need it.

Thanks,
Shelley

I wouldn't worry about it. Rust is actually good, in moderation. I add rusty nails to my reef and it is 54 years old. No problems yet.
