Very interesting discovery I had yesterday. We had a power flicker the other night about 930. Everything seemed to have come back on but I was not feeling well so wasn't going through house to verify everything.

Side note: the axis 20 pump is random as when the app will work turning on or off. Usually requires a to unplug and replug. That's another issue but related.

I discover yesterday 22 hours later roughly that my pump had been off the entire time. However, my corals were happy and looked great. I have turned my pump down from 60 to 20 and see how it does.

Tank looking great though that froggy is huge

I was looking at the axis20 to eventually replace my stock pump. Would you buy it again?

Not unless I was positive about the app working right. It is a good pump but seems to be a communication issue. I don't like how it was also shutoff when power came back on. May need another update. I bought mainly for app control and everything on minimal apps but so far hit or miss when it communicates properly.

My thinking as well regarding the joined app for everything. Good to know. That's a pretty decent issue considering price.

It may work better in mobius app. I'll have to try.
Actually jinxed myself and my UNS stock pump died at like 6pm last night, luckily was able to rig up a tiny pump to keep er going.

I kind of ignored what you said and had amazon get me an axis 40. Fingers crossed no issues yet.

You may not have any problems with the axis 40. Mine is the 20. Plus could be something with just mine. Hopefully no issues for you. But those UNS pumps that come with it are horrible as well as their rotary nozzle. I sent them email in regards to the issue. They seemed interested in the issues. But the sigma pump which is what comes with the UNS is a fire hazard as well.

So lots has happened and due to some health things that came up and work as well as projects around home, I haven't been on much. Over 2 weeks ago after a water change. I noticed my vitals were very unhappy. I was not sure why. I had topped off with freshwater and thought maybe I mixed it up with my tap water. I pulled out sand and did a full clean and placed back in tank. Corals still unhappy.

I decided to test the salt. Something I didn't do and told myself I would always do prior. The salinity was at 1.031. it was very high. After some back and forth from my lfs I got the water from, it was discovered the testing was right but was not tested correctly. I grabbed another container, went home and adjusted salt and did a water change. Was almost immediate response.

Damage had been done as the flesh on frogspawn was receded already. Inverts and gobies were ok. Corals were injured. Its been almost a week and corals look better but still recovering and could loose frogspawn. I broke my own rule I setup after last time and was to always check salinity.

During this process I was still in grief over our loss of our pup and changed in income and was behind on lots of things around the house on top of having to go see the doctor for some health things. Everything is starting to settle but I may not be able to post as much as I have but will see. I'll post pictures of the corals during the salinity spike which took me over a week and how they are now.

Corals have seemed to be recovering from the high salinity. But did some rearranging and addition to rock work.
But first photos of the corals during the high salinity and today.

My tank is snowballing out of control. I have now just ordered liveaquaria rubble.
1000000976.jpg

My plan is to add these pieces into the tank to to structure and Highlight the corals without inhibiting growth. This will also serve as a platform for the torch coral I have been wanting and used to have which is orange/gold with blue tips. I will be selling my mp10 locally to find this purchase.

My wife's phone does seem to take better pics than mine but my phone is supposed to have the better camera lol.

Due to the new elevation height, I had to switch to a nozzle that is fixed rather than using the spinstream. As the spinstream would directly blow on the coral.

Hard to believe but my tank is approaching six months in a couple days. These past few months has been very hard for the wife and I. Loosing our young pup, my health not so great, stresses with work and just a few weeks ago not testing salinity from LFS almost lost me my corals. I just placed my trust in God and things are starting to improve. Unfortunately The wife and I have covid now lol. But it is not to severe.

Most corals are completely fine from the spike but the pink Goni hasn't quite recovered while the purple is still holding on and improving which was already not happy from prior. I was able to get a hold of the orange torch I wanted by selling mp10. And due to placement, I need to raise the light for me even spread at top. I am eventually going to get a cabinet to put above, a shelf or hanging bar across. While I'm deciding. I have them on the modified tank mounts to have it fit.

The plate coral decided to walk from its corner towards the center last night.

Also as an update that I was not able to use any of the rubble as it really wasn't. These were large pieces that would take up half the tank. They seem to have sent me display or base pieces rather than rubble.

And these pieces were shipped just in bubble wrap which broke. Wouldn't be a big deal but pieces that broke off are to thick.

Just caught up on the thread. Tough reading about your struggles. Glad the tank is pulling through though. Tank is looking good.
Thank you. I'm still making minor adjustments. I like the easiness of bare bottom but when I put the little tank with sand beside it, I just couldn't resist and off it went lol. This will also help with water volume to keep it lower for easier changes. Wanting to add a bit more to it such as a couple more flaming prawn gobies possibly another gorg and another colored macro algae down the road. Currently need to get the light situated still.

So fragged some of the frogspawn today and traded in for lobosymphilia. I'm not sure which position I like better. 1st with lobo on bottom. 2nd is with lobo above and frogspawn below. I'll be lowering the elegance if this seems better.

@Ben’s Pico Reefing glad your corals are doing better. No fish in this tank right now? I have the Axis 40 pump and really like it.

I have one fish which is a flaming prawn goby. Would like to get a couple more. So far, I have been disappointed with the axis. Every water change I have had to unplug and plug back in as it was unresponsive to app. There was an update recently so we will see if it has fixed the issue.

Peaches had entropian surgery Tuesday on her left lower eyelid. She is doing well and hopefully nothing else will be needed.

She has been ready to play after she rested Tuesday. Lol the cone of shame isn't stopping her.
