Oh nice information about your self dear member my cold water tanks are in a outside area. I have constant temperature of 12c. And for your concern the bealet Anemones are captive breed, roughly about 40 this year would you like to buy some captive bred beadlets. Also I have captive bred snake lock Anemones if you would love to buy captive bred. And I would like to make the point I have had no losses of anything in my time and that's true. Also I have kept salt water tanks since 1993 so I think I can say I have learnt a tiny bit of information and experience. Please show off your amazing cold water set ups feel free that's what this thread is for carnt wait wow. And sorry to correct you I am managing to breed everything my self apart from fish . Ie Anemones captive bred / snails /shrimps captive bred. Also setting up a area for growing on sea weeds and maybe a growing on Anemones in different stages baby's running upto adults
Also I see your from the UK people in the USA are going to think UK members are grumpy old men. This forum is full of great people from the USA and other parts of the world. And us brits like to get in with negative comments also would you like a photo of what I feed my cold water tanks just ask too many to list. Or is it really you want a Rock pool reef keepers badge you just have to ask simple and I would get on to the moderaters to let you in. Anyway you have a great day my fellow UK buddie
Preach it brother!

If I stop there to pick up some frags could you recommend a good local place for fish and chips? Do they have pubs in the UK?

Plenty of pubs for a pint and there’s always a fish and chip shop and salt and vinegar

I am going to try and tell my experiences with natural sea water which I use for my cold water tanks and my bubble tip anemones tank . So let see I looked for a good clear area that I could collect my water safely and grabbed half a bucket . Then drove home and got the salfert test kits out first of all I tested ph the reading was 8.1 and when you read salfert instructions it gives you what natural sea water should be and ph was bang on . Next test Ammonia this came back as 0
Next one to test nitrite which came back 0
Then I tried nitrate that came back a tiny trace on the test . Phosphate/ calcium/ magnesium/ all came back bang on with salfert instruction.
So the only thing I had to check was salinity this came out at 1.027 but it hasn’t rained for a long period so this is easy to adjust with rodi water . So as far as I was concerned it is a go for using in my tanks . So a nice drive out to the same area and filled my two containers that’s 50 litres of the sea water and set off home again . So this was a straight forward drain and refill on my cold water tanks but my little BTA nano I sat the container in the house for a day and then did the same drain and refill the reason I brought the sea water inside was to warm the cold water upto room temperature which worked perfectly. I have been using natural sea water for about three and a half month now and I see a vast improvement in my tanks and also very cost effective. One thing I have learnt over the years people can buy all the best of gear and still fail and people that set up simple set ups with just the essential equipment and succeed on owning a stunning reef . What I am trying to say is you don’t need to go down the rabbit hole of everything been the latest fancy equipment imo . Sorry went off the script a bit there so natural sea water we all strive to get as close to it with are parameters and it’s there looking straight at you loads of it yes some people may want higher calcium due to what corals they keep but you can dose that as you would have before. So nearly four months on and I have had not one single problem in my tanks no I’ll fish nothing dying off . Sorry let me say I have had 6 shrimps die due to my anemones spawning and filling my tank with milk like substance (sperm) if you want the correct word and when I think back they maybe died to lack of oxygen in the water but I have this sorted for next time this happens which it will the Beadlet anemones love to breed . And again going off the subject sorry about that but imo I love using the natural sea water and would never change back . Also there are other members out there doing the same thing and it also works for them . Salinity is the only thing to alter due to rain and no rain more less low salinity or high salinity if it’s high I just dilute with rodi water if low I put it in my shed with the lid off and let it evaporate for a couple of days till the salinity I require 1. 025 normally . So I hope I haven’t bored you too tears and thanks for reading what I think of natural sea water.

I’ve heard people say your not to take anything from rock pools well this is to the do good people. What I am going to show you is how mad British laws or should I have said eu laws .A fisherman hits his amount of cod he is aloud to catch and anything caught after that has to be throw back in the sea normally dead . When we have people starving in the country have to go to food backs . I don’t know if this practice is still used now we are out of the Eu but maybe someone can let us know . Also scallop boats and oysters dragging chains along the sea bottom removing everything from the sea bottom. And then people say don’t touch that pool of water your as mad as the eu
