Hello to all my fellow reefers!
I FINALLY got a 5 stage filter from BRS, and I have finished the install HOWEVER....I installed it by splicing into a main feed line in the wall.
Here is my OOPS....I spliced into the HOT water line, not the cold. o_O
SO my question to all you experts out there, is there any reason I HAVE to use a cold water line? or is using hot water, then letting it cool down before mixing salt / filling my ATO tank OK.

This is a BIG OOF for me

Thanks for the help

RO membranes have a max temp. above which they will be damaged. Depends on the type, but I think above 100 deg. F would be unadvisable.

You would get fantastic production for a while due to the high temperature, but soon, pffft! membrane shot.

From instruction sheet for 5-stage on BRS site.

TURN WATER SUPPLY OFF AT CONNECTION POINT Hot water should never be used with the RO system as it can damage the RO membrane and may also contain additional contaminants from the heater. For this reason, only the cold water supply should be used
