Now that I have my tank "fully" stocked with fish I'm starting to get the Uglies. All kinds of algae growing like crazy (seriously, at least three different types of "algae"). If this was freshwater I know what to do - water changes! Reef? Not so sure.
Do I wait it out? Do I add Vibrant? I have very low phosphate and nitrates, I suspect it's because they're being used up by the algae. I have LSP corals and I know they like things a little "dirty" but how do I do that without explosive algae growth? [my corals are a mixed bag with several doing well and growing, a few not doing anything and a couple failing].
Any advice appreciated.
RedSea Reefer 250 (~ 50 gallons in display)
ATS (barely growing any algae)
Live rocks in sump
Salinity 1.025
Temperature 79
pH 8.0
Ammonia, nitrate 0
Alk 8.5
Ca 450
Mg 1350
Phosphate 0.034 ppm
