Hello everyone!

Just wanted to post this and get some thoughts. I’ll begin with what’s going on, about 2 days ago random huge algae bloom. Water is a murky green tint. Really thin algae grows on the glass overnight and during the day. No algae on rock work. Maybe a little bit of diatoms on the sand but nothing crazy. I swapped out the carbon media in my tank, have my skimmer running. Also lowered all my lights down (also curious of doing a blackout). I have a little uv running in my sump but doesn’t seem to be doing much. my parameters are
nitrate- 11.3
Phosphate-.03
Nitrite-0
Ammonia-0

So don’t know what’s going on. Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

I recently went through that with my 1.5 year old tank... nothing that I know of changed; the water just turned cloudy over a few days, then eventually green-tinted.

I let it go for about a week before I purchased a 24w Green Killing Machine (the tank at the time was a 90g) and let it run for a week or so.

Now that I have a larger tank (150g), I'm looking into the higher-end UV.

What size tank do you have?

Sorry, I have no reason, I just wanted to let you know that it happens and likely will clear up on its own. :)

Get an airstone if you notice your fish gasping or hanging out at the surface.

Well now that you mention it mobius has been acting weird and the schedule has been very random with my radion xr30s. I do think it may somehow have increased the white. I caught a glimpse of the tank and saw it was whiter then I remembered it being but was busy and didn’t have the time to look into it. If that’s the case. Could I just run blues until the algae dies off?

Yes, corals don't need white light. It's just for viewing pleasure. I just run the AB plus setting.

Got you. I just moved it to that setting to and only have the royals and blues on so hopefully that does the trick until the algae dies off and then I’ll turn up the whites very slowly.

Gotta love mobius. My radions are sitting on a shelf because I got tired of the app changing date and time then blasting the lights in the middle of the night. I only use it for powerheads now.
Yea definitely annoying for the price that these lights cost. I have the gen 6s definitely didn’t expect an issue like this

I've had mine for 3.5 years with no mobius issues at all.

It's been an on going issue but not everyone experiences it. Are you on ios? It seems to be more problematic on android. I can't even delete a tank on android and have to use and old iPhone. It's been changing date and time on me since I started using it. Its only happened a handful of times but seeing my lights blasting the tank at 3am was enough for me to stop using it for my radions.
