Did you remove it? Did it move? I was thinking flat worm when I first saw it.......
Nope dead and not moving at all. Theres no face or anything, its for sure a tentacle of some kind not a worm

I was thinking that as well but I was looking at the food and I dont see anything like it in the packages. I have rods carnivore diet and chunky I feed pieces of to my triggers. Im hoping this is something from there but everything is so mashed together and this thing is in perfect shape so Im nervous its not from the food
Is it a bit tough or was it very squishy? If it was tough, I would imagine that's somehow from your frozen feed. Maybe balled up and squashed until it got into the tank and had a chance to expand. If fleshy and soft, well... watch your back.

Did you start with live rock from the gulf? It’s not unheard of that dwarf octopus hitchhike on the rock, though you probably would have seen a steady decline in clean up crew

Perhaps the triggers tore that hitchhiker a new tentacle?

Huh. I'd say that you had a hitchhiker octopus, and the triggers got to him. Not a very common find, sad that the fish found it before you did.

Im not sure how he would have gotten in there though, I used caribsea rock that was dry, no way an octopus could have come in on that. And i hope thats not the case that would be so sad if thats the case. Im hoping it came from my food for the triggers, that has squid and octopus in it (sad I had no clue they put octopus in fish food, I love octopuses) but Im going to for sure keep an eye out incase I do have a dwarf octopus!
