I'm pretty sure I remember snow...white stuff that the dog goes nuts for, right?? I, live in Blythewood, not far from you...Just starting a RSR 500P reef tank. Have been keeping marine tanks since 1969 after returning from Southeast Asia, but since I retired and have too much disposable income, I decided to try a reef tank (kids don't expect any inheritance).

Welcome to the Deep Blue Sea @Mick1of10. I know exactly where Blythewood is. I had a buddy that used to live on Grover Wilson a few years back. He's back in the Homestead/Miami FL area now, speaking of not knowing what winter is...

Finally felt like getting out of the house today. My truck almost made me carry it to the store. Really cold diesel that hasn't ran for a few days and may or may not have some neglected injectors... let's just say if the neighbors were taking a nap and the 30° weather didn't take care of the mosquitos, I single handedly took care of both of those problems. Oh, went to go buy milk... because I've been out for a week and haven't felt like leaving the house, because sick... the idiots here have already panicked over the cold and bought up all the half gallons of whole milk and there were only a few gallons left. I'm only one guy, I'm going to be drinking a lot of milk before it goes bad.

Anyway, we got the reactor plumbed up... finally. Time to get those nutrients under control. I give up on chaeto. I firmly believe that anyone who can grow it is a witch, and needs to be burned at the stake. I killed every bit(3-4 batches, I quit counting) in my 75g with TONS of excess nutrients, a cheap flood light bulb and even switched to a PAR38 plant grow bulb. Now its dead in the Deep Blue Sea with plenty of nitrates and a Kessil H380.

Pictures and stuff...

Now to see if I can make it to the bar... they've got some kind of "Lights of Lugoff" parade going on tonight on Highway 1. Lights of Lugoff, heh that's the smoldering meth lab... now move out the way, there are bar stools out there that need people in them.

No, the last test we did I had an excess of nutrients. 16ppm nitrates and 0.68ppm phosphates. Honestly, I don't trust that Seneye is reporting PAR correctly... or maybe there is some merit to the myth that you can't use PAR to measure Kessils...

BRS tested the seneye on kessil and supposedly it was pretty accurate. Any idea where you posted your numbers? I tried looking and gave up

Hahahaha... hang on let me get my laptop and I'll get you a post and page number.

I tested at 100% intensity and 50% color, but I currently am running the lights at a peak of 35% intensity from 1500-1900. From there it's a ramp up and down from 1100 to 2300. 30% max color, so it's a little on the blue side.

Man i had a busy week amd missed quite a bit! Your Acans do look happy! Theyre my nemesis for whatever reason.

Live sales are a killer if you’re trying to stay on the coral buying wagon. I think 4 months is the best ive managed and that was torture!

We kinda sniped a Facebook auction last night at the last minute. Just like Chuck Norris...
