Alright guys, gonna redo my IM 14g peninsula. Its full of marine pure, the rocks, frag racks and back glass are covered in GHA, and I just found my sapphire damsel in the pump chamber. Because of the shape, getting a fish out of there requires emptying the tank and turning it on its side to dump the fish out with the rest of the water.

Gonna go with softies this time around. Something I've never really messed with... suggestions are welcome, I'll probably start another build thread here soon. Simple cut and dry... Deep Blue is still my main focus and where all the shananagins take place.

Few pictures at lunch break... took these this morning. Really don't like white sand, but I don't have any more of the black.

I'm glad I got mine. Really helps with the shadowing from LED's.

Yea, and with a little DIY electrical work it won't look retarded. So my tank is only 20"... we'll have a little light spill, but we have that with the two kessils now.

Yup. I picked up the widening kit, but haven't installed it yet. Been way too busy with the pool. :(

Ugh, more water to take care of...

I think the neighbor did hers in this past Sunday. The was a back hoe in her back yard and I kept hearing splashes. It's a shame too, that pool was custom made in the shape of South Carolina.

Yeah. And salt. Most of the hard work is done but I did add 480 pounds of salt and mix it in. That should be the last of the heavy lifting for the pool work.

My poor tank is so neglected right now.

480lbs of salt... back yard reef tank? Lol.

How big is the pool and what salinity do you run those things at?

It's somewhere between 15,000 and 17,000 gallons I think. I try to keep salinity between 2800 and 3200 ppt. At the top end it works out to 1.0024. I expect to add another 80 pounds to get where I want to be.

Fortunately, it's only around $9 for a 40lb bag. Much cheaper than reef salt!
There's an idiot that is/was in the Charleston reefers club facebook page that was using pool salt for his QT tank... because of the cost. We all laughed at him, but we usually do/did that anyway. I think he left or got kicked out the group... or he possibly blocked me. Actually I'm pretty sure he did block me, but he's blocked half the people in the group anyway.
