You're all probably going to tell me it's too early, but I added my dwarf angel and a few corals over the weekend. The rock was completely cycled at the LFS in a running stock tank with fish. I hand picked each piece. No ammonia or nitrite to worry about. The angelfish is happy and swimming all around and the corals are showing great polyp extension and some small growth! The Kessil is set a little to the blue side for color and 50% intensity for ten hours. I changed to it more white for taking pictures. Everything is too saturated with blue otherwise.

Update on the tank. Did my second water change yesterday. Syphoned out the sump area in the back of the tank as much as I could without removing the return pump and cleaned my filter sock really well. It has gotten clogged up with fine sand dust from start up. It'll be replaced by a media basket soon with filter floss that I can just throw away. No more washing out filter socks! Took just about 1.5 gallons to fill it back up which is somewhere between 10-20% total water volume. I think this will be a good practice to do every Saturday. Been keeping Alk pretty stable at 7.7ish hand dosing once a day, corals are really looking good. Tested NO3 for the first time today, 1ppm. Didn't bother with PO4 as I didn't figure there would be enough for a problem. Just starting to have to scrape algae on the glass, might add another snail or two. I accidentally broke the top off of my birds nest. I just glued the piece to the rock, didn't want to frag it but oh well. Now, on to the fun stuff, coral pics!

Having a little tank envy.
I'm still new in the hobby, I'm just waiting for something to go south. I do have some brown spots forming on the sand bed in the back of the tank. Nothing major yet. Maybe a nassarius snail or two and another turbo astrea. It's lower flow back there.
That being said, the green birds nest has really taken off in this tank. It and the blue stylo were both in my 75, going fine but never saw any growth. The birds nest has little white bumps all over it from new branches forming and the stylo is fluffier than it ever was and the tips are starting to show good growth, but reasonably slower than the seriatopora.

I'm probably newer than you are. 2 months this week. I'm still figuring things out. Everything really.

I have some of that in my 75g right now... It's kind of my experiment tank. I went chasing numbers trying to get my NO3 and PO4 down. Started dosing NOPOX and ended up throwing things off balance and growing cyano. I decided to take a step back, let them settle out and stop number chasing.

When I get the media basket, all I'm going to use is the filter floss and change it out every other day or so. I have a really low bio load on this tank. There's only one small fish and one snail in there. If I see a problem with nutrients I'll consider some form of carbon and GFO. I'm really thinking I can just keep them in check with water changes. At least at my current bio load.

FTS? Sorry, I'm not familiar with that acronym. I'm trying not to experiment too much with this tank. Slow and steady, not trying to chase numbers. The corals are happy where everything is right now. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The 75 is a whole 'nother' story. LOL

Mmm, dinner! I just finished off the rest of the left over lasagna. My fiance works nights on the weekends and I don't like cooking when she's not home. Why dirty up a bunch of dishes for just me? What pics would you like to see? The brown stuff on the sand or...?

Mixed up my first set of Red Sea foundation powder last night and had 12 hours at work to shake the jars... lol. Tested water this morning and my Ca is around 500ppm(been there since tank was first set up) and Alk was at 7.3dkH. The powder is 1/3 strength of the liquid I was using, and I had to use only 2/5 the liquid dose of 1ml/25g, as I'm only around 12g water volume. Bunches of complicated math later and I decided to dose 8ml part B. Waited 30 minutes and retested Alk with my Hanna Checker and I was at 7.8dkH, right where I like to be. Hopefully soon I'll have a dosing pump and ATO. My fiancee is killing me trying to pay for our wedding while I'm trying to buy reef tank stuff... I need to get her priorities in order! (Don't tell her I said that [emoji23])

Very cool!!
Quick suggestion. They sell plastic lids for the mason jars. You may want those. Cheap and much easier to drill and clean.
