I received a beautiful Trachyphyllia today and to my dismay it has a section of skeleton exposed in the shipping bag. The response from the vendor below. In my experience they don't recover. Should I push harder for a credit?? Trying not to be nasty, their stuff is usually healthy.
emails below:
The corals arrived here as expected on time and we'll packaged. However the Trachyphyllia is bleach white on the lower half indicating poor health. It will most likely not survive this. I'll dip it as you see fit. I have Oxolinic acid as well as various other dips. Your past shipments have always been healthy However this is not an acceptable specimen. Please advise.
Response:
Thank you for your message. I understand your concern about Trachyphiilia . Shipping stress can sometimes cause corals to recede, which might explain the bleached lower half. However, it’s a good sign that the coral isn't torn. To help it recover, I recommend placing it in a shaded area of your tank with low to moderate flow and stable water parameters. You can also use a gentle coral dip to help it recover from the stress.
Please by all means keep me updated on the progress.

Looking for advice on the handling of the vendor. Not how to care for an injured Trachy. I have that part. Thanks for reading.
