Torch Coral Receding

This torch never really recovered and has been receding since a phosphate spike in early may. Also looks like the white flesh band is gone. Anyone have any luck recovering from this?

That is a difficult road ahead. i recommend kfc dip. But most people don’t keep the ingredients on hand.

The brown mucas needs to be removed with a baster and disposed outside the tank. Revive or coral rx dip is recommended. Low flow. Feed mysis or flake if it will take it. Preferably soaked in aminos or Restor. Any extra vitamins it can intake will help fight infection.

The one head won’t recover. Best case is the second head /remains of first head survive And eventually split to make new heads

Glue it to a rock and put it down low under an overhang in a low light area for a couple of days and see if it helps. The tank looks really new by what looks like ugly's in this picture? Apologize if I'm wrong... Might be too early for a torch, but try lowering it and don't blast it with flow for the time being. you can dip it in a bowl of tank water with "Restore" for small sessions, or maybe some Cipro if you can find it. It does not look good though. I have saved one that looked that bad, but it's not likely without some work and good established tank water parameters.

I am very experienced with torch and I have both saved and lost ones that looked like that. Low flow. Keep it clean. Dip in restore, coral rx, or cipro if you have it. Try to get it to eat. Pray to the torch gods. And keep conditions / parameters stable

Thanks yall. I'll move it to a more low light low flow location to see if that helps. I have dipped it in coral rx a couple times. I'll keep trying. Tank is just 4 months old.

Best bets. Cut dead head off. Remove what brown crud in fresh made saltwater in a separate container . Either kfc which I’ve never tried or Cipro which ii have and saved a torch before with. Unfortunately the poor thing may be beyond salvaging but maybe not. Depends on how infiltrated the other head is.

If there are multiple heads cut off the ones that look the worst and try to save the healthiest head. Dip in a combination of Chemiclean + Restor if you don't have the ingredients to do the KFC dip. I have stopped using CoralRx since it seems to be pretty harsh on euphilla. Instead I use the Polyo Lab dip for pest management. Here you are trying to save the coral rather than pest management so should plan accordingly.

Torches have a mouth. The tentacles sometimes pull in small particulate food as well as small pieces of meaty food like mysis. I do not go out do my way to feed coral (my nutrients already run high) but they do benefit from the broadcast feeding of frozen food I do once a day.

I take a cup of tank water and mix in mysis, add some benereef, some pe mysis flakes. Turn off flow. And use a coral feeder (like a more precise baster) and feed the arms. They grab it and curl up and pull it in and bring the food to the mouth

You can soak mysis or flake in JUST restor. It’s proteins and aminos for lps recovery. I like flake because it’s dry and absorbs liquid better. I just pour some Restor in a cup alone without saltwater so the flakes absorb Restor without being diluted. I use PE mysis flakes, the torches already eat mysis. But any high quality flake should work. Then turn off flow and gently squirt some into the torch and it should grab them and eat them
