Red velvet (rubrisquamous)

he is the miracle fish. Was in QT when I first got him and disappeared after a week, I searched all the nooks and crannies in the live rock and the back sump to no avail and gave up thinking he didn’t make it and the cleanup crew got him (my QT is run like a mini reef). About three days later when cleaning the tank I see a red tail sticking out of the filter floss in the overflow and think oh no, that’s where he went and he’s gone. I pick the floss up and he starts wriggling. In a panic I toss him into the display where the resident fish all start giving him the business and he dissappears into the rocks. I think we’ll that probably was the last straw. A few days go by and no fish. On about day 4 he re-emerges, decides to let all the other fish he is now the boss and has lived happily ever after (j have had him about 4 years)

I love my wrasse though I’m not sure the shop had it labelled correctly. Anyone know what this is?

Today let's talk about the Cirrhilabrus species, better known as the fairy wrasse in the hobby! The fairy wrasse is one of the most popular fish because of the great personality they have and of course because they boast some of, if not the BEST, colors of all marine fish! But if we had to pick a top five, and we do today, who would make the list? Let's chat!

1. What is your most favorite fairy wrasse?

2. If you have a favorite fairy wrasse list which ones make the Top 5?

They are beautiful! But, are they like the 6 line? I put one in my tank last year to rid the tank of flat worms. Now I can’t add any other fish. It immediately kills them.

Cirrhilabrus aren’t all like the Lined Wrasses of the genus Pseudocheilinus. If you get the right species then you’ll have some extremely peaceful wrasses that will mix perfectly with eachother.

That’s a stunning example of a Cirrhilabrus isosceles you have.
As said above, the common name for this species is the Splendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse, it used to be known as Cirrhilabrus cf lanceolatus which is what your LFS may have sold it as.

Okay now that you have opened the door on wrasses. What can I keep with my bully 6-line wrasse? A bigger size wrasse. I'm really wishing I didn't put him in the tank. He was fine with a yellow wrasse but then I moved him to the big display tank and he turns around and start bullying my yellow belly wrasse and finally killed it. :(

Thanks for the advise / suggestions
