I painted the back of my tank black some time ago. About twice a week I meticulously wipe down my glass with a mag float. Lately, I have not been wiping down the back.

Do any of you just let the back go? Any pros or cons to doing so? Just curious.

personal preference. some folks are meticulous about it. I currently do whatever I can get to with a Mag float and then leave the rest to turn purple.

most folks cannot get to the back. I do not worry about the back. I have enough of a problem keeping the front and sides clean.

Can you see through the back from behind the tank?

If it's algae I would clean it of, but leave the coralline algae. It all just on what you prefer.

I can easily get to the back of my tank for cleaning. But I think I'll try to get some coralline going. Thanks for the replies.

That's a personal preference In my opinion. Since I cannot get to the back of my glass I let It go and It has developed a coating of coralline algae that looks great.

I like to let coralline grow on the back glass but the sides and front stay clean.
